This paper presents the performance evaluations of the multicarrier modulation systems such as the Filter Bank Multicarrier (FBMC), the Filtered Orthogonal Frequency Division Modulation (F-OFDM) and the Universal Filtered Multicarrier (UFMC). The performance evaluation of these new waveform candidates for 5G mobile communications has been performed based on Power Spectral Density (PSD) and Peak to Average Power Ratio (PAPR) using MATLAB Version 2019. Simulation results show that, compared to the Frequency Division Modulation (OFDM), FBMC could be a more effective solution.

Numerical solutions to various types of plate structures are indispensible in engineering since it provides approximate solutions to mathematically expressed equation governing a plate. On the other hand, analytical solution provides exact solution to plate bending problems but has restrictions in areas of practical interest. In this study, an improved finite difference method (IFDM) which is a numerical method was used to transform the governing differential equation of a rectangular stiff plate on elastic foundation into improved finite difference coefficients using the central difference method on the discretized plate on elastic foundation. The coefficients obtained from the numerical method were applied into the governing differential equation of the rectangular stiff plate on elastic foundation to obtain the mathematical model for deflection of the plate. Thereafter, 25 interior nodal points of the plate were considered.......

Gas lift is considered the most important artificial method in the oil and gas industry. Although, there are several components in the Gas Lift Valve (GLV), the ball and the seats are the only two adjustable components. The objective of this study is to maximize the gas flow rate (throughput) using different seat designs, seat sizes, and ball sizes to increase oil production. Blowdown test has been conducted using actual valve and nitrogen gas at 600 psi injection pressure. In total, five main seat designs were experimentally tested to investigate the highest gas throughput. The first three seat designs (sharp edge, modified design, and optimized design) have previously been evaluated using low gas injection pressure. Developing on this study, these seat-deigns have now been tested using 600 psi injection pressure. Additionally, two new seat designs were invented in this research including partially curved design (PCD) and wholly curved design (WCD). To optimize the gas throughput, thirty-four seat sizes and five ball sizes were used........

This quantitative study was carried out to estimate the oil initial in place (OIIP) of the Safsaf D oil reservoir using both volumetric methods and a material balance equation. The study also assessed the oil reserves of this field using production Decline Curve Analysis (DCA) method. Oil initial in place was first estimated using three volumetric methods (Iso-pach method, Pore-volume method and Hydrocarbon pore volume method); furthermore, as these methods rely on mapping, Surfer software was implemented in this study to generate maps. Also, the modified material balance equation of the Havelena and Odeh model was used to estimate the oil initial in place. Field production history, reservoir pressure data, and PVT data were collected for material balance calculations. Finally, field reserves and remaining production life were estimated using exponential decline curve analysis method........

Paper Title :: Object Detection under Similar Interference Based on Efficient Det

In object detection, the most difficult interference is similar interference. The interference is relatively similar to the characteristics of the target object. When the interference feature extraction is less difficult than the target object, the use of the interference feature can better identify the target object. Therefore, a twin strategy, which uses interference with low detection difficulty, is proposed to provide the target object a non-single detection scale. Therefore, the interference and target objects are labeled at the same time, and the single classification problem is transformed into the multiclassification problem of detecting interference and target objects. Thus, interference is detected initially and does not interfere with the target object detection. Then, the EfficientDet model structure based on the twin strategy is proposed to study the object detection algorithm under similar interference. Finally, an experimental study is carried out. Experimental results show that the detection accuracy of the target object can be improved by more than 4%.

Shelter is man's basic need after food and clothing. However, due to economic challenges and high cost of building materials such as cement, it became difficult for people to acquire affordable shelter in Nigeria. This led to research into finding ways of utilizing waste to serve as alternative to earth blocks stabilized with cement for low cost housing. Thus, this research study examined the performance evaluation of Compressed Earth Blocks (CEB) stabilized with rice husk ash (RHA) and mining tailing waste (MTW). In order to achieve this objective, geotechnical properties and compaction characteristic tests of lateritic soil used in the production of the blocks were determined. The blocks were produced with RHA and MTW as stabilizers at 0%, 2%, 6%, 8% and 10% by weight of laterite and cured for 14, 21 and 28 days respectively. The compressive strength, density and water absorption tests of the blocks were conducted after each curing regime........

Designing energy harvesting system that are pollution free has become a significant goal within the research community. One of the numerous systems that have been proposed is the VWEHS system that produces electrical power by utilizing the movements of commuting vehicles through tunnels, boulevards, and streets. When vehicles pass over a VWEHS system, the system translates vertically. Consequently, a kinetic energy is produced and transferred into electrical power. In this paper, a prototype version of a Vehicle wheel Energy harvesting system, which aims to harvest energy from moving vehicles by using their kinetic energy, is designed, constructed, and tested. A computer software, Matlab was used to design the system device circuit. An experimental analysis is performed on the rack-and-pinion system. Results have shown that electrical power up to about 55 W generated when a mass of 80 kg is applied to the VWEHS system considered. Extrapolation of results confirms around 0.56 kW powers can be produced when various vehicles with different masses pass through the ramps.

The exact solution of three nonlinear partial differential equations viz: Burgers-Fisher, Burgers-Huxley and modified Korteweg-de Vries equations are investigated theoretically using the first integral method. The equations were first converted to ordinary differential equation using the FIM routine and the resulting ODE was further transformed into a system of equations using new independent variable. With the aid of the Hilbert-Nullstellensatz theorem, the resulting system is solved for first integral solution to the ordinary differential equation.

A novel pulsed power generator based on IGBT stacks is proposed for wide pulsed power applications because it can generate high voltage pulsed output without any step-up transformer or pulse forming network, it has advantages of fast rising time, easiness of pulse width variation, high repetition rate and rectangular pulse shapes. Proposed scheme consists of multiple power stages which were charged parallel from series resonant power inverter. Relying on the number of power stages it can boost maximum voltage up to 60 kV or higher with no limits of power stages. To minimize component for gate power supply, a simple and robust gate drive circuit which delivers gate power and gate signal simultaneously by way of one high voltage cable is proposed. For gating signal and power a full bridge inverter and pulse transformer generates on-off signals of IGBT gating with gate power simultaneously and it has very good characteristics of protection of IGBT switches over arcing condition. It can be used for various kinds of pulse power application such as plasma source ion implantation, sterilization, water and gas treatment which needs few kHz pulse repetition rate with few to ten of microseconds pulse width.

High efficiency video coding (HEVC) is a very popular coding standard since it can support up to 4k or 8k high resolution video. Face location is one of the most important tasks for intelligent video surveillance (IVS) system based on HEVC. It is a fact that an accurate face location facilitates subsequent face recognition and security system. Recently, the YOLO (you only look ones) is a very effective object location method, but it works with low resolution images. Since the modified version of YOLO (YOLOv2) location system limits the resolution of input image up to square ratio of 608×608 pixels, the input image needs to be resized to a fixed size. This will lead to a large reduction in the accuracy of face location for HEVC........

This paper proposed a method for operational planning of Mesh/ radial distribution network considering security-constraints and multi-DG configuration with integration of demand response. The proposed method simultaneously minimises operational cost and energy losses in the network. The impact of multi-configuration of renewable DGs and demand response in a meshed network were also investigated. The ε-constraint method was used for the solution of multi-objective function. In this work, the distribution network is converted from radial to mesh to allow for alternative route for flow of electric power when N-1 distribution line contingency occurs in any of the branches...........

Modern smartphones are equipped with many useful sensors. These sensors range from gyroscopes to global position systems (GPS) and sensors like magnetometers and three-dimensional accelerometers in-between. These sensors being used by applications installed in the phones can be used to measure the level of serviceability of a road by measuring the international roughness index (IRI). Early researchers have established that the World Bank standard of IRI was the method used in assessing road conditions. It serves as a means of evaluating the conditions and level of serviceability of a road network. This paper evaluates the roughness, surveyed length and vehicle speed measurement using RoadLab Pro (open sourced) and Roadroid (commercial) applications along selected routes. The selected route was carried on four major road networking the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to neigbouring state capitals........

A Power distribution as well as any bulk energy consuming companies have a strong demand for reliable power so far as revenue generation and production are concerned. Research will proof that transformers are great assets to companies and therefore maintenance as well as replacement of the transformer is found to be a luxurious exercise for every company. Keeping this factor in mind, IoT based distribution transformer health condition monitoring system is developed in this work to monitor the health conditions of distribution transformers remotely and at regular intervals. Health index is determined on the basis of change in current values on phases, oil level moisture content as well as load ability, which are measured using sensors. Arduino has been selected as the processor for transmitting the sensed data while Blynk App has been selected as the IoT platform for displaying the received data. This low-cost system can be installed in transformer at any location to get monitored remotely, which not only determines health condition but also to assist in predicting the life span as well.

The airborne magnetic data of Chad Basin areas have been interpreted qualitatively and quantitatively using source parameter imaging techniques. Six aeromagnetic data sheets covering an area bounded by latitudes 12 00' to 13 00' North and longitudes 12 30' to 14 00' East were used as basic data for determining the nature of the magnetic anomalies over the area. Regional anomaly was removed from the total magnetic intensity field to obtain the residual anomaly field using polynomial fitting method. The total magnetic intensity and residual intensity fields show range of magnetic anomalies which strongly revealed that the study area is magnetically heterogeneous. The horizontal derivatives maps show the occurrence of subsurface linear structures which suggests a significant presence of faults in the study area. Source Parameter Imaging (SPI) technique was employed in quantitative interpretation with the aim of determining depth/thickness of the sedimentary basin. The results from SPI estimated depth ranges from 345.0 m (shallow magnetic bodies) to 6880.6 m (deep lying magnetic bodies). The sedimentary thickness obtained in this work indicates the possibility of hydrocarbon accumulation in the study area...
