This study is on the experimental investigation of fully replacing sand with sawdust on the compressive property of concrete. Design mix ratio 1:2:4 and w/c of 0.58 were used and 24 concrete cubes were cast. 12 cubes were for the sand concrete used as control samples and 12 cubes for the sawdust concrete. The compressive strength of the sawdust concrete was compared with the sand concrete to check their strength gain. The result of the study gave that both the weight and compressive strength of sawdust concrete decreased significantly and the gain in strength was very poor. The gap in the strength gain between the two concrete cannot be compared at all hence, some percentage replacement using sawdust is needed to ascertain its optimum for use as lightweight concrete.

Paper Title :: Improvement of Emission Color and Efficiency in Blue Light Emitting Organic Devices Using External Microcavity
Author Name :: Akiyoshi Mikami
Page Number :: 12-17
:: 10.9790/1813-08010011217

An external microcavity structure was introduced to the stacked cathode in organic light emitting devices, and the influence on the luminescent characteristics were investigated. From the detail optical analysis, it was clarified that the surface plasmon loss in a metal cathode can be reduced to about one fifth by using a semitransparent thin film cathode, and can be extracted outside by the microcavity effect after being converted to the thin film waveguide mode. More than 50% of optical power in dipole emission was successfully utilized as the external and substrate modes. The luminous efficiency was increased about 1.4 times, and the color purity of the blue emission was also improved. The relationship between the external microcavity effect and surface plasmon coupling will be discussed from a viewpoint of optical analysis.

Paper Title :: Incorporating feature derivation into machine learning to predict software project duration
Author Name :: Qingkang Zhu || Hongbo Li

A common problem in software development is that many projects cannot be finished on time. Inaccurate estimation of the project duration is one important reason to this phenomenon. In view of this, we incorporate feature derivation into three machine learning algorithms (i.e., multiple linear regression, multi-layer perceptron and decision tree) to predict software project duration as accurately as possible. We use cross-validation to compare the performance of the duration prediction algorithms. Two evaluation criteria are adopted to measure the algorithms: mean magnitude of relative error (MMRE) and PRED(25%). Based on data of143 projectsthat are collected from an open source code management platform, we conduct experiments to test the duration prediction algorithms.

In the present world, some wastes are considered as second-level matters and dumps as a deposit for economy. This positive perception motivates the perspectives of large scale valorization for waste in Kinshasa where insalubrity is more increased. But, for Kinshasa people, what is a waste? Are they prepared to make a choice of their dust? These two questions pushed us to presume that Kinshasa people have a negative perception of waste and that this one is an obstacle to sustainable salubrity of their town. This piece of research shows results got from a sample of 385 housekeepers and proposes some answers.

Analytical investigation for the limiting value of Nusselt number, including the effect of viscous dissipation on heat transfer for a laminar plane Couette flow between two infinite parallel plates, where the bottom plate is fixed and the top plate is moving in an axial direction at a constant speed. The study concentrates on hydrodynamically fully developed flow of a Newtonian fluid of constant properties without considering the axial conduction in the fluid. To investigate the effect of viscous dissipation on heat transfer by defining the limiting Nusselt number, plates are kept at constant unequal temperatures. Close form expressions for the limiting Nusselt numbers as a function of the Brinkman number and asymmetry parameter are evaluated..........

A lock stretcher bar (LSB) is an important component of the switching mechanism in a railway switch and crossing layout system, and is thought to have been the main cause of failure in several railway accidents.This study provides an improved understanding of the failure characteristics of railway switch LSB in operation using computational models. Finite element analysis software is used to simulate multiaxial deformation of a standard lock stretcher bar used in some UK switches and crossings. The model is successfully validated using experimental methods. Safe deflection limits have been obtained for multiple displacement directions which collectively create a three-dimensional operating safety envelope.........

Contrary to the immense economic importance of coconut for both industrial and domestic uses, dehusking of the fruits after harvesting constitutes the most difficult and dangerous operations during processing. Performance evaluation of coconut dehusking machine was carried out. The machine was designed and fabricated using locally sourced materials. It consists of the supporting frame where the machine components were mounted. The de-husking unit consists of two galvanized steel pipe rollers with spikes and shafts. The driving and driven roller shafts are mild steel rods supported at both ends by ball bearings. Six spur gears were used with various pitch circle diameters and number of teeth respectively, and were attached proportionally to the driving and driven roller based on their functions in the machine..........

Economic growth and population growth are harmonious in the development of an urban area. In line with this process, problems will arise, including the problem of landfill that continues to increase every year and also as a cause of environmental pollution. One of the New and Renewable Energy technologies (EBT) that can reduce landfill and environmental pollution by using waste as raw material is the Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) with plasma gasification. In this plasma gasification process all types of waste that enter the gasifier reactor will all be destroyed and produce residues that have economic value and synthetic gas that can be used as fuel for electricity generation. This thesis has analyzed the potential of Ketapang City waste that can be converted into electrical energy..........

In distribution systems reading the meters, which are spread a large area, is an important problem. Automatic meter reading systems provide an economic solution to problem of collecting data interpret it accurately. The M-Bus (Meter Bus) was developed to fill the need for a system for the networking and remote reading of utility meters, for example to measure the consumption of gas or water in the home. When interrogated, the meters deliver the data they have collected to a common master, which can be a computer connected at periodic intervals to read all meters of a building. In this study, the software has been developed for billing and remote reading of meters. This software will interrogate M-Bus meter at periodic intervals, will transfer consumption data from meter to computer, will calculate consumption and will make an invoice in this data center, if necessary.
