Breast cancer is the most frequently occurring cancer as well as the most fatal form of malignancy among Malaysian women. This study aimed to highlight the survival rate of Malaysian breast cancer patients in hope by knowing the pattern of survival and related prognostic factors. This study was conducted using secondary data obtained from a general hospital in Johor Bahru. All 38 cases of breast cancer diagnosed from January 12, 2006 to February 15, 2017 were selected. Age, ethnicity and treatment received were collected to determine prognostic factors. The Chi-square test of independence determines if two variables are independent of one another. Patients' age (p-value = 0.602) and ethnicity (p-value = 0.284) have no association with the survival status of patients while treatment received (p-value <0.001) has association with the patients' survival status. Kaplan-Meier method was used to estimate the survival curves of the breast cancer patients........

Unsafe storage and indiscriminate disposal of household waste can have serious implications for the health of the urban dwellers. Possible actions include a campaign to strengthen the household awareness of their responsibility as producer of the waste and promote pro-environmental behaviour towards its handling. Building such a campaign requires some knowledge of barriers and opportunities to enhance people's attitude towards a safe environment; therefore we conducted a cross-sectional survey involving face-to-face interviews with the household heads or their delegates to identify factors associated with the insalubrity in an administrative locality in the capital city Kinshasa. The majority of the households were male headed (66%). Almost three quarters of the participants were partnered, 39% had attained an upper level of education, 57 out of 282 were unemployed, housewives, without any professional occupation or still studying. Interestingly in the same proportion as the civil servants (16%), 15% reported as being senior executive..........

Paper Title :: Optimized energy management of a residential microgrid: interconnected nanogrid system

The use of renewable energy is essential to reduce the consumption of final energy used in the residential and tertiary sectors. For their effective integration in buildings, the main obstacles to be overcome are the design of multi-source systems (where renewable sources coexist with conventional sources), their design and their control - command. The objective is to obtain an optimal system from an economic and energy point of view. Because of the spread of the use of renewable energy to achieve energy self-sufficiency in remote areas, microgrids can lead to sustainable development of clean power systems but they pose challenges to a reliable energy supply because of its intermittent nature. This article presents a microgrid model including a PV. The purpose of the energy management system.........

Paper Title :: Experimental Analysis on Aluminium Alloys (7xxx) After Friction Stir Processing for Engineering Applications

The high strength Al-Zn-Mg alloys (7xxx series) have some specific properties such as spontaneous ageing nature, high strength-to-weight ratio and effect of Sc addition makes it hard. This alloy is largely used in aircraft and automobile industries. Scandium (Sc) addition in aluminium alloys have great technological advantages to reducing the cast grain sizes and generate large volume fraction of constituent particles (Al3Sc) and promoting the precipitation of a more uniform dispersoid distribution. The grain refinement effect and the age-hardening behaviour of Al-Zn-Mg alloys are studied on the basis of Optical microscopy (OM), Field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM), Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and Vicker's hardness measurements.............

Keywords - Scandium addition, grain refinement, FSP, T4 heat treatment, energy-based model, mechanical properties.

Paper Title :: Potential Energy of Palm Oil Liquid Waste as Raw Material for Power Plant Gasification
Author Name :: Burhanuddin Hasibuan || Purwoharjono || Hardiansyah

The purpose of this paper is to identify and quantify the energy potential that comes from palm oil waste as a power plant. Gasification technology can be used to convert palm oil waste liquid into pome which in time can be used as a material for electricity generation to produce electricity. Each tonne of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) produces 15% empty dry fruit bunches (EFB) which provides energy as much as 5.685 Cal / kg. The results of this study indicate that the potential for liquid waste (pome) generated by 5 (five) palm oil mills in Landak Regency with a total production capacity of 225 tons of FFB / hour from 2012 to 2017 has reached a total of 350,242.5 tons. This amount has the potential to produce energy of 1,683,401.0 MWh. After deducting the 53,705,266 MWh used for 5 (five) palm oil factories and offices...........

Paper Title :: Performance Analysis of Hybrid Solid Oxide Fuel Cell - Gas Turbine Power System
Author Name :: Abdulrazzak Akroot || Abdullah Nadeesh

Energy and exergy analyses are introduced to a zero-dimensional hybrid system of solid oxide fuel cell - gas turbine, for steady-state operation. The effects of two important SOFC parameters (operating pressure and current density) on varying conditions are examined. According to the obtained results, a decrease in SOFC current density improved the system performance (electrical efficiencies and exergy efficiencies) due, primarily, to the reduction in Ohmic losses, which results in a higher stack voltage. As system pressure increases, net electrical power, electrical system efficiency, and electrical system exergy increase to a peak and then decrease. The main exergy destructions occur in the combustion chamber and the gas turbine.

An adsorbent for palm oil bleaching was synthesized from incinerated rice husk ash (RHA). Powdered RHA was sieved and utilized for producing RHA absorbent using calcium hydroxide and calcium sulphate by the method of impregnation. The precursor solid was calcined at 200oC for 3 hours, characterized using FTIR and XRF techniques and studied for its bleaching action on palm oil by maintaining the stirring rate and contact time while varying the catalyst loading. The SiO2, P2O5 and CaO content were determined to be 49.765%, 9.52% and 30.216% respectively, with traces of K2O, SO3 and Al2O3. Absorption bands that appeared around 1055-1030cm-1, 875 cm-1were attributed to Si-O and Ca-O bonds respectively, while the intense band observed between 1330-1430cm-1 was assigned to O-H bending (in-plane) vibration. The absorbent proved effective for decolourizing palm oil.
