Cement is widely noted to be most expensive binding material. The entire construction industry is in search of suitable and effective waste product that would considerably minimize the use of cements and ultimately reduces the construction cost. Gypsum which has the pozzolonic properties is a way forward. The possibility of using Gypsum as a construction material need to be investigated. Two types of Gypsum namely Natural Gypsum (NG) and Flue-Gas Gypsum (FGG) are commonly used in construction industry. A comparative study on effects of concrete properties when Gypsum is partially mixed with Lime and Fly ash is discussed. The compressive strength of concrete will be mainly studied. The study suggests that Gypsum has the potential to be used as replacement for cement, having good compressive strength performance.............

Intelligent Vehicles System (IVS) supports a wide variety of Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) services such as vehicle visibility detection. In implementing this service, the message authentication is a vital design parameter that protects victim vehicles from being tricked into accepting false messages as legitimate ones and make a false decision based on the incoming message. However, implementing message authentication service is too expensive especially if vehicles, initially, don't trust each others or there is no certificate of authority in place...............

Multimedia database consist of media data types such as text, images, sound, and video, which are retrieved by image descriptors such as texture, shape, and color as their primary key. New technologies have numerous challenges, and multimedia database have its share of challenges. Some of these challenges are in Content-based Image Retrieval (CBIR) techniques, such as irregular performance measurements in motion, location and sketches, hence creating gap in multimedia database evaluation techniques. As a result of which, this paper was motivated to close this gap of lack of an effective and precise performance evaluation benchmarking measure. To address the irregular performance measure, the paper developed a performance measure benchmarking model (PMBM) framework using image descriptors in query by image content (QBIC)..............

In this paper, a robust attitude control algorithm is developed based on backstepping-sliding mode control for a satellite using four reaction-wheels. In this method, the actuator dynamics has been considered to design the controller and asymptotic stability of the proposed algorithm has been proven based on Lyapunov theory. Then, in order to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm, a low-cost real-time processor in the loop test bed is provided to real-time assessing the attitude control algorithm. In this test bed, real-time modeling of satellite dynamics, disturbances and reaction-wheels are achieved in a simulator computer and the control algorithm performance is investigated by implementing it in an electronic board of the test bed.

The problem on the sewage pollution of coral reefs has been present for quite some time. In fact, the current regulations allow public treatment so that there can be a modification of the pollutant discharge. Coral reefs are seen as "distinctive habitats of limited distribution." It is critical that they are protected because of their importance to man. This paper looks at the ecological impact of the different discharges of coral reefs. There are three major components of sewage control and this includes eutrophication which is related to the high nutrient concentration which is released in the waste waters; the sedimentation of suspended solids and its toxic effects. (Ecological Impacts of Sewage Discharges on Coral Reef Communities). Different other factors are hazards to coral reefs such as climate change and overfishing, but pollution that arises from untreated sewage is a more serious danger to reefs. DC motor as an electric machine have been applied in numerous control systems. However, a critical parameter of interest that must be evaluated in designing a DC motor based system is the damping constant of the rotor. This paper analytically examines how to determine the damping constant of the rotor of a 12V DC motor, with the determination based on the following parameters: Armature resistance (Ra), inductance (La), Capacitance, the Stall current and the Angular rate of excitation of the motor with varying armature excitation of the current. These parameters help to ascertain the maximum and the minimum operating limit of the motor so as not to exceed the boundary-operating limits of the 12V motor...........

Gating is an effort to control access to the settlement, especially to unwanted social contact. Gating usually manifested on spatial elements such as gate, wall, fence, security check point, swing up portal, etc. at their main entrance. The term gating then relates to gated community as a modern-exclusive residential which is in some cases, reinforce both spatial and social segregation. This paper analyzes gating and its relation to segregation from spatial point of view. The role and function of wall, gate, and border is analyzed to define whether it is a manifestation of security or a matter of life style. This paper concludes gating as both security and life style aspect, and gives influence to semi-restricted segregation.

Most of the adsorbent used for removal of fluoride from drinking water is activated carbons. It is an expensive material, and so the use of alternative, which is a cheaper adsorbent, is required. Hence in the present work, an attempt has been made to remove the fluoride in drinking water using corn cobs powder as a natural adsorbent using a fabricated filter. The Bureau of Indian Standard has recommended the limit of fluoride content of 1mg/l (BIS: 10500-2012). The water samples were collected in different places namely Uppinahally, Doddagatta and Yadapura in Arsikere taluk of Hassan district...........
