This paper shows an MSP430G2 microcontroller application like a generator of control signals for a typical single-phase power inverter. For this case, the microcontroller is used as an alternative to generate high frequencies with low noise and short dead times, which is usually a problem with other microcontrollers, besides if the power inverter is for high voltage applications. The output signals are complementary, including a dead time between the active states with a wide range of operation output frequencies 0 – 200 kHz. Constant dead times of 200 ns were obtained in all of the range of frequencies; the noise is reduced, including a stable behavior between the output signals, with the resulting high frequencies that could be possible to design high-frequency power inverters. The assembler code also explains the mathematical behavior of the cycles and time consumption to make this kind of application.

Key Words: MSP430; single-phase inverter; MSP assembler; MSP430G2.

Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) process can convert sugar solution into residual solid, soluble liquid and gaseous products. Liquid product is called bio-crude or bio-oil as a fuel raw materials. The residual solid has high carbon content. Increase in temperature increase the gaseous products from 41.68 to 65.83, and also residual solid increase from 9.25 to 14.34, but the liquid product was decreased from 49.07 to 19.83. Increase the residence time resulted increase the residual solid from 1.74 to 18.63, and gaseous products increase from 25.05% to 54.4%, but the liquid products were decreased from 73.21% to 26.97%. The liquid content of levulinic acid of 46.78%, mannonic acid of 9.1%, alpha.-D-Glucopyranuronic acid, TMS derivative of 16.23%, and Galactopyranose, 5TMS derivative of 6.98%.Hydrothermal carbonization (HTC) process resulted the residual solid in the form of carbon spherical in the size of 5 to 10 micron. The spherical carbon product can be applied in many purposes.

Paper Title :: Cryogenic Treatments Applied to AISI D2 Steel: Effects on Wear, Hardness and Microstructure
Author Name :: Víctor Manuel Alcántara
Page Number :: 15-24
:: 10.9790/1813-12061524

Superficial (SCT) and deep (DCT) cryogenic treatments were applied to AISI D2 tool steel, to observe its response regarding wear, hardness and microstructure to these treatments, and its advantage over the conventional quenching-tempering treatment (CHT). For the SCT; after austenitizing, samples were cooled to (-80°C), 6 h. For the DCT, cooling was done at (-196°C), 4h. Cryogenic treatments considerably improve hardness and wear resistance. With the DCT treatment, the highest wear resistance is achieved, due to the refinement and distribution of secondary carbides (SC). The primary carbides (PC) are mainly responsible for the resistance to abrasive wear and the secondary ones (CS), with their fine morphology and distribution, are mainly responsible for adhesive wear. The microstructures of the cryogenic treatments show a martensite matrix with thickened (CP) and secondary (CS) carbides with fine dispersion of the types : M23C6, M7C3, Cr7C3.

Key Words: Cryogenics, hardness, types of wear, tool steels, carbide precipitation.

Sandstone member of the Imo Formation occur in northeastern part of the Niger Delta Basin. Lithofacies analysis was carried out in order to ascertain the depositional environment of the sandstone deposit. Seven lithofacies were delineated and grouped into two facies associations: facies association 1 comprising black shale (Bss), interstratified sand, mud and clay (Smc}, cross stratified sandstone (Css) and bioturbated siltstone (Bst); facies association 2 comprising paraconglomerate (Pcg), cross stratified sandstone (Cst) and brownish mudstone (Bms). Facies association 1 was deposited in a tidal flat environment because of the presence of presence of Ophiomorpha, Skolithos and Thalassinoides ichnofossils......

This study evaluates potential economic performance for propane precooled mixed-refrigerant (C3-MR) natural gas liquefaction process in a real baseload, large-scale plant located in Arzew, Algeria. Two alternative mixed-refrigerant processes were investigated and compared in this study, including a base case mixed-refrigerant loop with dual (double) compressor system and an alternative mixed-refrigerant loop with a single compressor system. The evaluation was done based on five economic variables, namely: payout period (POP), net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), profitability index (PI) and present value ratio (PVR).....

Paper Title :: Mathematical Derivation of the Second order Kalman filter Based on Estimation and Prediction
Author Name :: Iskanderani, Ahmed I.
Page Number :: 48-53
:: 10.9790/1813-12064853

This paper presents the use of the innovations approach for estimating signals described by linear second-order vector difference equations. The approach results in a recursive one-stage prediction estimator in second-order form, which preserves the structure of the signal model with innovations feedback. It is shown that the second order Kalman Filter is a special case of this estimator. Furthermore, the innovations can be obtained through a recurrence relation based on the knowledge of one-stage prediction estimates and measurements. The paper also demonstrates that these results can be derived using an augmentation approach based on Kalman filtering results.....

Characterization of a rupture in a ¾" tie-in made of Incoloy 800HT material, of a superheated steam outlet pipe from one of the Styrene process reactors, observed during its operational campaign, being replaced by a new tie-in after process shutdown and system purge. With the section removed, a visual examination was car-ried out in the region of the fracture, and characteristics of brittle rupture were observed, with a small defor-mation located only in the regions where, apparently, the tension was exerted that led the component to rupture, the site of installation of flexible steel hose on tie-in. Another characteristic evidenced later in the metallo-graphic analysis that collaborates with the suspicion of brittle fracture was the sensitization of the weld materi-al and the tube, in the region of rupture.....

Technology has permeated many facets of the public and private sectors. Organizations find many benefits of technology as it contributes to efficiency and productivity in many operations. Developed rapidly in recent years, human resource technology is one technology designed to automate human resource functions. Small to large organizations now adopt HR technology systems, particularly those that are cloud-based, increasing accessibility (Muzyka, 2021; Tech Target, 2022). Software applications are available for many aspects of the human resource function. These functions include benefits administration, employee payroll and compensation, performance management, talent acquisition, and management and workforce analytics. More comprehensive systems have been developed to include.
