The objective of this study was to investigate the concentration offour heavy metal elements (Cd, Cu, Pb and Zn) in road dust at the Northern Highway in Abidjan. The concentrations of the heavy metals weredetermined using atomic absorption spectrometer.The results show that the average concentrations of Cu, Zn, Pb and Cd in the dust samples are 409.34, 125.42, 452.84 and 2.2 mg/kg, respectively were higher than their value in the continental crust data.Contaminationlevels were evaluated using contamination factor and the enrichment factor.Results showed that the dust contained significantly elevated heavy metal elements concentrations compared with the background soil. .

Paper Title :: Evaluation of Osmotic Coefficients and the Influence of Temperature on Osmotic Coefficients of NaCl and KBr Electrolyte Solutions
Author Name :: Zheng Fang, Zheng-Hua Zhang
Page Number :: 06-15
:: 10.9790/1813-11110615

In this study, two things have been done. The first is to evaluate the original data of the osmotic coefficients of NaCl and KBr electrolyte solutions at 25, 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 °C (Robinson, R. A., Stokes, R.H.: ElectrolyteSolutions, Butterworths, London 1959 p 480), which originated from the experimental measurements of boiling point evaluation of NaCl (Smith, R.P.: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 61, 500–503 1939; Smith, R.P., Hirtle, D.S.: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 61, 1123–1126 1939) and KBr solutions (Johnson, G.C., Smith, R.P.: J. Am. Chem. Soc. 63, 1351–1353 1942), using a linear rule between a dimensionless-thermodynamic potential of solvent and the probability-distribution of water in single electrolyte solution proposed by one of the authors (Fang, Z.: Asian J. Chem. 23, 5384–53922011). The second is to investigate the effects of temperature on the osmotic coefficients of these two electrolyte solutions from 60 to 100°C by means of the optimization method of curve fitting to the results from the linear rule mentioned above. Acquire the osmotic coefficients of both of NaCl and KBr solutions as a function of temperature within 60 to 100 °C with the satisfying results.. .

Paper Title :: Proposal of an automated container to separate the garbage
Author Name :: Yoram Astudillo-Baza , Manuel Torres-Sabino , Manuel Águila-Muñoz
Page Number :: 22-27
:: 10.9790/1813-11112227

The present work presents a proposal for the automation of a garbage can, which allows the correct separation of the different types of waste. The container has six compartments contained in a metal base that rotates through a stepper motor according to the waste selected by the push button located on the top of the container. Due to its capacity and composition, the proposal is only applicable to urban environments (home, schools, and museums). . .

Paper Title :: Spermatozoa Structure Treated by Plucheaindica Tannin: A Case Study on Male White Mice
Author Name :: Eko Susetyarini, Ahmad Fauzi
Page Number :: 28-31
:: 10.9790/1813-11112831

Plucheaindica is one of herbal plants that is potential for antifertility due to tannin content on its leaves. This study aimed at studying the structural change on spermatozoa of male white mice treated by Plucheaindica tannin. The tannin extraction was on the basis of Lowenthal-Procter method. In practice, there were three sorts of treatments, comprising: (A) administering aquadest to control group; (B) giving pure tannin; and (C) administering Plucheaindica tannin. After 49 days of treatment, spermatozoa were observed by using electron microscope. There were some parameters considered to measure the structure of spermatozoa, i.e. size and shapes of head, neck, and tail. The result indicated that the structure of spermatozoa from the three different treatments were all of uniformity. For that reason, pure and Plucheaindica tannins did not yield significant difference on the spermatozoa structure of male white mice.

Paper Title :: The Effect of Fly Ash and Bottom Ash on the Physical and Mechanical Properties of Paving Blocks
Author Name :: G. Setya Budi, Faisal, Erwin Sutandar
Page Number :: 35-46
:: 10.9790/1813-11113546

In order to preserve the quality and quality produced in line with SNI requirements, the selling price of Paving Block products on the market must be modified to reflect the composition of the materials used due to the significant rise in Paving Block manufacturing material costs. Whereas, with the growth in cement and sand, a permanent solution must be found so that the price, quality, and quality of the paving blocks stay unchanged. Therefore, there is a plan to solve this issue by reducing the usage of cement, sand, and stone by using FABA (Fly Ash and Bottom Ash) from the Batu Barang PLTU, which has been operating in West Kalimantan. 0.5/0.5. Due to the decreased usage of sand and cement, does the quality of Paving Blocks still meet current standards? The variation 1:3:0.5 has the maximum compressive strength at day 28 = 28.202 Mpa and is classified as B. The greatest absorption = 7.637 % places the material in class B, while the wear value of 0.230 mm/minute places it in class D. Variation 1:4:0.5 has the maximum compressive strength on day 28 ..... .
