In the conditions of changing climate, plants are continuously subject to several biotic and abiotic stresses. Among these stresses, drought is one of the most severe abiotic stress which threats crops production and yield. Crops demonstrate various morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular responses under water stress. This review describes some aspects of drought induced changes in morphological, physiological, biochemical and molecular changes in plants. Drought triggers a wide variety of plant responses, ranging from cellular metabolism to changes in growth development including roots, shoots and final yield. Moreover, understanding the biochemical and molecular responses to drought is essential for perception of plant resistance mechanisms to water-limited conditions. The sections of this review deal with plant responses including root growth, transpiration, photosynthesis, phenotypical flexibility, accumulation of solutes and expression of some genes and proteins for improving the tolerance to the drought stress

As the semantic web becomes more common, interactive data have gotten more important. In academic papers which provide online publish services, therefore, their usage and strength can be enhanced by applying semantic tagging. Semantic tagging makes it possible to understand the characteristics and categories of tagged words at a glance and use them for visualization. If detailed explanation on the tagged words can also be viewed at the same time while reading a paper, in addition, readers' convenience and legibility can be improved simultaneously. This study compared the keywords tagged in Spotlight and TAGME respectively and those tagged in both systems. Among 10 papers in 5 subjects, those with improved keyword matching accounted for 70%, 60%, 50%, 60% and 80% respectively..................

A recommendation system is a program which attempts to predict items that users may be interested in, considering their preference and taste. Collaborative filtering is an algorithm which is most commonly used in the recommendation system. It recommends the items that users are interested in with similar preferences. The system finds similar users based on all users' purchase and rating data. However, user preferences can change, and this kind of change may slow down recommendation performances. To upgrade these recommendation performances, this study proposes a user preference-reflected recommendation technique. The precision and MAE of the proposed method were measured, using MovieLens data set. Compared to conventional collaborative filtering techniques, the proposed method revealed better results.

This paper deals with the optimization of economic load dispatch (ELD) problem; this is to find the optimal combination of generators in order to minimize the operating costs of the system. This is done by using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm. PSO is applied to search for the optimal schedule of all the generator units that can supply the required demand at minimum fuel cost while satisfying all system constraints. The PSO algorithm has been implemented using MATLAB optimization toolbox and was applied to solve the ELD problem of the Nigeria thermal power stations. The results were compared with published results obtained via micro-GA, conventional-GA and differential evolution (DE) techniques.

This paper investigates the macroeconomic determinants of share price in the stock market of Vietnam. The investigation was conducted by using a VECM econometric methodology and revealed thatVietnam's stock market prices are chiefly determined by economic activities: market price index, inflation, money supply and exchange rate. An increase in market price index and money supply makes share price, while the increase of inflation (CPI) and exchange rate reduces share price. The study's result showed that Vietnam's stock market can be replaced by investors of foreign currency (USD), while the exchange rate tends to rise.

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 0.7M, 1.2M and 2.2M HCl by thoroughly pounded fresh leaves of Sida Acuta has been investigated using the weight-loss method. Corrosion rate curves progressively decreased with time. The maximum inhibition efficiency of 71.16% was attained when the crushed leaves of Sida Acuta were added at 15g per litre of 0.7M HCl whilst the corrosion rate reduced from 1.0485 to 0.3006mgcm-2h-1. The predictive corrosion rate model was developed using multiple regression and artificial neural network. Predictions of the experimental corrosion rate values by the artificial neural network revealed the importance........

Distance measurement is part of various robotic applications. There exist many methods for this purpose. In this paper, we introduce a new method to measure the distance from a digital camera to an arbitrary object by using its pose (X,Y pixel coordination and the angel of the camera). The method uses a pre-data that stores all the information about the relation between the pose and the distance of an object to the camera. This process designed for a robot that is a part of a robotic team participating in RoboCup KSL competition.

This work involves the revision of the Rainfall Intensity Duration Frequency (IDF) Curves for the city of Kumasi. Annual Maximum Rainfall depths of various durations over twenty-two years were obtained from the Ghana Meteorological Services. The data set was then subjected to frequency analysis to determine the distribution of which best characterize the data set. The annual maximum series were found to be drawn from the Gumbel distribution whose parameters were computed by fitting the statistics to the data. The Chi-square test and the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test prove the appropriateness of the fitting. Since the data available was only 22 years, IDF values for return periods higher than 22 years were obtained using frequency factors..........

In the last decade, several manual tradition measurement techniques were used to document the heritage buildings around the word; however, some of these techniques take a long time, often lack completeness, and may sometimes give unreliable information. In contrast, terrestrial laser scanning "TLS" surveys and Photogrammetry have already been undertaken in several heritage sites in the United Kingdom and other countries of Europe as a new method of documenting heritage sites. This paper focuses on using the TLS and Photogrammetry methods to document one of the important houses in Historic Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which is Nasif Historical House, as an example of Digital Heritage Documentation (DHD).

Violacein is a purple pigment extracted from bacteria, which has been reported with antimicrobial, anticancer, antioxidant and insecticide activities. Due to its biotechnological potential, studies have focused on the ability to synthesize this pigment from Chromobacterium violaceum, however Janthinobacterium lividum also synthesizes it. Therefore the aim of this research was to determine the optimum growth conditions of J. lividum for increasing violacein production. The pigment production was evaluated under different environmental growth conditions: stirring speed (150rpm/200rpm), light conditions (light/dark) and temperature (4 °C/30 °C).The optimal culture conditions were used to evaluate different carbon sources: tryptone and nutrient broth supplemented with glucose or glycerol (1% w/v)...........

A recommender system sorts and recommends the information which meets personal preferences among a huge amount of data provided by e-commerce. In particular, collaborative filtering (CF) is the most widely used technique in these recommendation systems. This method finds neighboring users who have similar preferences with particular users and recommends the items preferred by the former. This study proposes a neural network learning model as a new technique to find neighboring users using the collaborative filtering method. This kind of neural network learning model takes care of a sparseness problem during the analysis stage among those related with target users. The proposed method was tested with MovieLens data sets, and the results showed that precision improved by 6.7%.

Interoperability between enterprise legacy systems and contemporary information systems requires more efficient ways to analyze the architecture and design of legacy systems. However, the original source code collaboration design information is dispersed at the implementation level. The analysis of system design architecture therefore becomes a difficult task. In this paper, the authors present a novel approach to efficiently recover and analyze legacy system architecture and design through run-time source code collaboration pattern and role analysis. The extraction of code artifact collaborations and their roles is therefore an important support aspect in legacy software comprehension and architecture design recovery..........
