In Nigeria, as other parts of the world, effort has not been fully committed on the upliftment of rural areas to the desired level as the lives of rural families are still characterized by poverty (Olabode and Elegbede, 2010). In order to forestall this trend, various state governments in Nigeria prominent among which is Zamfara state have embarked on one campaign or the other like the Community and Social Development Project (CSDP), Community Driven Development (CDD) initiative etc with the intention of sensitizing the rural populace towards mobilizing themselves for community works by means of extant literature, this paper was able to find out that In order to achieve effectiveness and efficiency in community development efforts, there is the need for the local people as well as their resources to be organized and made ready for productive actions. After some initial organization, another key step in the activities is to engage the local people and give the diverse range of citizens the opportunity to be involved. Engagement of people occurs throughout a community development process, but it is crucial to actively foster involvement early in the process.

Paper Index :: 09.1913/0412029041

The main objective of this project is to design and analyze aerodynamic as well as structural loads of the remote controlled aircraft which uses solar energy emerged by the sun as a fuel. Designing of a solar powered aircraft is a challenging task. Because using solar panels to generate enough energy to fly an aircraft is very difficult. The generation of energy depends on the operating geographical area, weather and number of panels used on the aircraft. The wing span of the aircraft should be increased to mount the solar panels to produce more energy. This results in increasing weight and drag, which also increases number of ribs and length of spars. According to these conditions stiffness of the wing has to be increased to prevent from failure. Aluminium and Poly-urithene foams are used for ribs and spar structure. RC aircraft is designed by using Xflr software. 3D modeling is performed using Catia v5. This design is imported to Nastran Patran for analysis where linear analysis is carried out on wing structure. The distribution or variation of aerodynamic loads, maximum principle stress, shear stress and maximum deflection are tabulated after the analysis. Reserve factor values for the ribs, spars and skin of the wing are estimated. Stability and factor of safety are determined using the analysis as per the airworthiness standards.

Fingerprints are considered to be the best and fastest method for biometric identification. They are secure to use, unique for every person and do not change in one's lifetime. Human fingerprints are rich in details called minutiae, which can be used as identification marks for security purposes. This paper is a study and implementation of a fingerprint recognition using image processing tool in Matlab. The approach mainly involves extraction of minutiae points from sample fingerprint images and then performing matching based on the number of minutiae pairing among two fingerprints in question. For each task, some classical and up-to-date methods in literatures are analyzed. Based on the analysis, an integrated solution for fingerprint recognition is developed for demonstration. It finally generates a percentage score which tells whether two fingerprints match or not.

The traditional residences which have uniqueness in various forms extend in the archipelago of Indonesia. They are identified as neighborhood treasure of Indonesian culture with different forms and appearances. The traditional architecture is a work which always attempts to adapt with the environment and the people tradition based on trust. The residential is established environment which defines a form of communication and expression of personality and cultural background. Therefore, Rapoport (1969) said that the traditional architecture was a society expression on culture, religion, social structure and relations among the people. The various traditional houses in the Archipelago and the Southeast Asia are the shades of sophisticated art which have similarities in philosophy. According to Waterson (1989), they are rich in architectural formations which are different from the other traditional houses. Antoniades (1990: 65) defined that transformation is a change process of the forms which reached a final level by giving a reaction to the similar alteration of the outside and inside. Furthermore, Thompson in the Poetics of Architecture (1990) also wrote that the transformation was a process and a phenomenon of form changes within the state of altering..

In this paper we are going to develop the water lifting system by human powered. As the name implies water lifting system by human powered, it indicates that water is to be lifted by human with the help of bicycle with some mechanical arrangement. Various types of water system we have seen in and around world.When we purchase the new pump, we only know the basic things like how to ON/OFF and guarantee/warrantee and manufacturing date. But very few people are aware of their design and other pump related issues. In this project our many problems related to pump will get solved. There is no need to ON/OFF, less maintenance cost , it is portable , simple in design . The bicycle is to be used which is of very low cost and can be available all the time. In this bicycle operated system the arrangement of pump fits on the carrier of the bicycle and it is bolted so that any time we can disassemble the arrangement in less time. The arrangement of pulley is one side of the rear wheel so that when pedalling, the pulley rotate and the pump discharge more amount of water. Amount of water discharge depend on person to person efficiency. All this system arrangement are to be done in the catia software before manufacturingso that if find any mistake, can be corrected. Hence it save material cost and save time.

Incidence of parasites in fresh water fish in Oyo was investigated in 2014. a total of 617 freshwater fishes comprising of 181 (29.3%) 211(34.2%) and 225 (36.5%) of Tilapa zilli, Clarias anguillaris and Clarias gariepinus respectively were purchased alive from fresh fish sellers in Erelu water reservoir, Asipa river and some cultured ponds in Oyo town, these were examined for helminth parasite. Out of these 386(62%, C.I=.58-0.68) were infected. Cuculanus species (a nematode) accounted for the highest prevalence 249 (40.4%, C.I=0.35-0.45) in the fish species examined. There were significant differences in the occurrence of Monobothrium (F=1,29;P<0.05P. Clariae (F=3.92;P<0.05) and N.rutili (F=1.07;P<0.05) in the Gastrointestinal tract of fish species examined. The prevalence of infection in the fish species examined increases with their standard length and body weight. The prevalence of infection in male and female fish species except in C.anguillaris was statistically significant (P>0.05). The fish species examined could have suffered malnutrition due to parasitic infections. This condition may result to devaluation in protein content in the body of the fish which may be a threat to the national food security. Invariably, protein deficiency impairs normal metabolism of the liver particularly in man. Therefore the infected fish can transmit diseases to man,resulting to poor public health. This study is of the opinion that, proper study into the life cycle of these parasites, will help in the control measures that can enhance good quality and quantity of fish in Oyo town and in Nigeria as an entity.

Woven glass fiber/Multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs) reinforced epoxy matrix was investigated for toughness enhancement by in-situ growth of CNTs on the glass fiber surface.Woven glass fibers were uniformly coated with an iron acetate catalyst using spin coating techniqueand CNTs were grown on the fibers using chemical vapor deposition (CVD) technique.Scanningelectron microscopy (SEM) studies have confirmed that CNTs were grown uniformly around these non-carbon fibers. Flexure test confirmed that the growth of 0.62 wt.% CNTs increased flexure strength and modulus of the glass fiber reinforced epoxy matrix by 16.5% and 13.2%, respectively. In addition,the in-situ growth of CNTs increased flexure toughness and ductility by 30.58% and 8.6%,respectively, compared to the baseline properties of the glass fiber reinforced epoxy composites. Thermal analysis also presented an increase in both thermal stability and glass transition of CNTs grown epoxy composite compared to the baseline composite. The mechanical and thermal performance is the resultant effect of modified fiber/matrix interface and interfacial stress transfer.
